Obituary for James N. Dimmer

James N. Dimmer died at his residence peacefully in Sheridan.

He was born in Dunkirk; the son of Simon George Dimmer and Mildred Schubarga Dimmer. He attended local schools and enlisted in the army and subsequently the air force.

He married Ardene Rackza on October 15, 1960 at St John Bosco’s Church. He raised 3 children James Scott, Lynne Anne and John Kevin. He is the grandfather to Brett, Adam, Hunter, Bradley and Kevin.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandsons, many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is survived by a sister, Joyce Taylor. His brother Robert and sisters Marceline Parsons and Ann Lee McCoy predeceased him.

James Norman Dimmer simply embodied the words “working shall set you free.” His work ethic either at raising mink, the foundry at Dunkirk Radiator or bluecollar labor at Cliffstar was legendary. He lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed being outdoors, his land, fishing at Dimmer pond, mowing the lawn and all subject matter on World War II. He enjoyed watching wrestling, all football games, and westerns. The day he passed away the angels were singing Oh Happy Day.

Private arrangements are being made for he family and a memorial mass will be announced at a future date.
