Virginia M. Gullo

June 29, 1931 — December 4, 2021

Virginia M. Gullo, 90, a resident of Absolute of Westfield, formerly of West 5th St in Dunkirk and Lincoln Arms of Dunkirk passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at the Absolut of Westfield with her family by her side.

Virginia was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on June 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph and Celia (Sholyts) Marczynski of Dunkirk.

Virginia was a homemaker. She previously worked for the former Van Raalte Co. of Dunkirk. Joseph’s Clothing Store in Dunkirk and the old Cease Commissary in Dunkirk. Virginia was also a volunteer for the local MDA telethons, having “supervised” all the workers, counting change, and helping in any way she was able to.

Virginia was a devout member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. She was a fan of WWE wrestling and everyone who knew her knew not to call her after 8p.m. She loved her old movies, and she loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. Sunday was always spaghetti dinner. Her late husband, Joseph who had the chance to go to Italy had said that even Italy could not come close to her sauce. Her culinary traits were picked up by her granddaughter, Shannon who she fondly called her “Granny girl.” Now Shannon cooks up dinners and bake goods just like her granny.

Survivors include her devoted children: MaryAnne (Gary) Thuman of Dunkirk; son, Joseph (Susan) Gullo of North East, Pa.; granddaughter, Shannon (Ric) Juett of Branson, Mo.; grandson who is currently serving his country in Kuwait, SSG. Jeremy (Jena) Gullo of North East, Pa.; and a step grandson, David Claybrooke of Dunkirk, N.Y. Great-granddaughter, Jessica (Nick McNew) of Branson, Mo.; great-grandson, Jaxx Gullo of North East, Pa.; step-granddaughter, Alex Juett of Springfield, Mo. Step great-great-grandchildren: Nora and Max Yendes of Springfield, Mo. Her dear friend, Brenda Pazderski of Fredonia, N.Y., and several cousins, nieces, and nephews and many others who called her “Mum.” Besides her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Gullo, whom she married Aug. 2, 1950, and who died March 26, 1996. Her brothers: Joseph, Leonard, and Robert. Her sister, Mildred Macri. Her son, John M. Gullo; and her granddaughter, Tracey L. Sarzyniak.
