Steven T. Kucmierz, 64, of Dunkirk, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, December 27, 2014.Steve was born January 9, 1950 in Dunkirk, son of the late Casimer and Genevieve (Drag) Kucmierz. He attended Dunkirk Senior High School. A retired employee of Fredonia Central Schools and past employee of the former Ceases Commissary/Interstate United, Canteen/Loose Ends Vending, and D&F Collision in Fredonia and Cherry Creek. His memberships include Blessed Mary Ange-la Parish Church of St. Hyacinth, First Ward Falcon Club and Moniuszko Social Club. An avid sportsman, Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood-working and auto body work. Surviving are his sisters Mary (Timothy) McCarthy of Buffalo, Patricia Kucmierz of Dunkirk, Ann (Jim) Kirby of Monroe, NC brothers Edward (Rita) Kucmierz of Mesquite, TX, Ronald (Diane) Kucmierz of Westfield, Richard (Brenda) Kucmierz of Rowlett, TX, Anthony (Jackie) Kucmierz of Dunkirk, his K-9 companions Sara and Annie, along with aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by hisbrother, Eugene Kucmierz, who died September 15, 1988. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. in Dunkirk, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
