Stephen "Booper" Sobczak, 50, of Dunkirk, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December, 25, 2024 at home. Born on February 23,1974 in Dunkirk, son of Francis Sobczak and the late Diane L. (Pierce) Sobczak.
A graduate of Dunkirk High School, Stephen embarked on a career at Refresco, where he worked for over 30 years. His colleagues remember him not only for his work ethic but also for his warm spirit that brightened even the most challenging days.
Stephen was known for his infectious laughter and a caring nature that endeared him to everyone he met. He made a concerted effort to ensure that others had what they needed, demonstrating a profound sense of empathy and kindness. As an amazing caregiver, he devoted countless hours to providing support and comfort to his parents, showing particular devotion to his mother until her passing.
His passions extended beyond work and family; he was an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Yankees. Stephen found joy in watching all sports, relishing the camaraderie and excitement they brought. He had a special fondness for visiting casinos, where he spent countless hours playing the slot machines, always with a sense of thrill and enjoyment. Additionally, Stephen cherished attending Music on the Pier, finding immense pleasure in the local music scene.
Memberships include the Kosciuszko Club and Dom Polski.
Survivors include his father Francis Sobczak, siblings Ann (Lee) Morgan of Cassadaga and John (Heather Priest) Sobczak of Florida. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Stephen is preceded in death by his brothers James C. Pierce, and Frank Sobczak.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the Kosciuszko Club; 252 Nevins St. Dunkirk, NY. Arrangements by R. Mackowiak Funeral Home; 56 East Doughty St., Dunkirk, NY.
