Sandra J. Kosierb 79, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025 at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Born in Dunkirk NY on April 20, 1946 to the late Cecelia Kucharski-Kosierb.
Sandra was a graduate of Dunkirk High School class of 1964. Sandra graduated from the former Brooks Memorial Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in December 1966, which began her career as a registered X-Ray technician. This began a career which saw her working in various medical fields as an X-Ray technician and as a dental assistant. Sandra also worked in various other positions throughout her working career, including the Regent Theater and Tops market. Sandra was also a licensed Real Estate Associate for the former Block Realty.
Sandra enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and NASCAR, listening to classical music and Neil Diamond. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crewel work in her younger days. Yard sales and visits to "sally anns" were Saturday favorites. She also enjoyed painting by numbers. Along with being a fantastic cook, she was also an expert in wild game recipes created from her son David's past hunting experiences. Her Christmas cookies were legendary and delicious.
Sandra was a registered organ and tissue donor and because of that, her love will live on through her donation to ConnectLife.
Sandra is survived by her loving children Lisa (Gary) Vande Velde and David Shareno. Two beautiful granddaughters, who were the light of her world, Sophia Cecelia Shareno and Harper Lyn Shareno. Nonnie loved you beyond the moon. Sister Kathleen (Mike) Hatt and her daughter Amanda (Ron) Tonelli and their children Cecelia, Estella, and Leo. Sister Barbara DeJohn and her daughter Heather.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 1-4 p.m. at the Fredonia Beaver Club; 64 Prospect Street, Fredonia, NY. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc., 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY.
