Ronald J. Rys

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Ronald attended and graduated from Cardinal Mindzenty High School, where he ultimately became the varsity coach of the golf program.

Ronald served in the US Navy for two years.

A past employee of the Al Tech Steel and retired from the city of Dunkirk Water Department.

As an avid of sports enthusiast, Ron was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants.

His memberships include a life member at the Fourth Ward Falcons Club the Moniuszko Social Club Inc., an impressive 50 year membership at the Shorewood Country Club and was Club Champion multiple times.

Ron’s pride and joy was the junior golf program at Shorewood Country Club which he was a major supporter of.

Surviving are his cousins Tim Gornikiewicz, Patty Wunder, Nancy Tiffault, Barbara Lewandowski, John Slonina, Betty Weber and his goddaughterKarin Wunder.

Predeceased in death by his parents, John and Jane Rys.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Friday, March 17, from 5-8 PM at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 AM in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be held in private.
