Rita M. Krystofik

Rita M. Krystofik, 83, of Dewittville, NY, formerly of Fredonia, NY died August 11, 2014 at Hospice House after a short illness. She was born September 15, 1930 in North Tonawanda, NY, the daughter of the late Felix J. and Helen (Grupa) Bialaszewski. A homemaker and former employee of the late Dr. Dana Wheelock, Rita married Raymond Krystofik November 8, 1952. Rita and her husband enjoyed spending the winter months in Leesburg, Florida, and summers at their home on Chautauqua Lake in Dewittville, NY. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Fredonia, NY. Her hobbies included basket weaving, crocheting, cording, and sewing, proudly sharing her handiwork with family and friends. Survivors besides her husband include two sons; Raymond W. (Deborah) Krystofik of West Seneca, NY and Chris (Terri) Krystofik of North Tonawanda, NY and three granddaughters, Lauren, Lisa and Lindsay Krystofik. She also leaves behind four sisters including Betty Tarnowski, Shirley (Walter) Swiech and Arlene (Donald) Williams of Dunkirk and Barbara (Joseph) Binko of Fredonia and three brothers Robert (Lois) Bialaszewski of Silver Creek, James (Linda) Bialaszewski and Thomas (Patricia) Bialaszewski of Dunkirk. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Felix, Daniel and Norman Bialaszewski and one sister, Jean Bialaszewski. Visitation will be Friday 6-9 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia. Final resting place will be the Columbarium at St. Hedwig's Cemetery in Dunkirk. In lieu of flowers donations in Rita's memory may be made to The Hospice Foundation of WNY Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., P.O. Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240.
