Richard DiSalvo Sullivan,84, of Dunkirk, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. Born in Jamestown, NY on July 2, 1940, husband of Patricia (Draves) Sullivan, and son of the late Alexander and Caroline (Mondo) Sullivan. 


Richard graduated from Fredonia High School before embarking on a fulfilling career with Al-Tech Specialty Steel, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. He found immense joy in spending time with them.


In addition to his professional accomplishments, Richard served honorably in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 as a Very Heavy Field Artillery Crewman. 


Richard was known for his nice demeanor and was often described as loving and caring. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, engaging in conversations with anyone he met.


In his free time, Richard had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed doing yard work.


Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia (Draves) Sullivan, whom he married on April 22, 1961. Also surviving are his children Joseph (Abby) Sullivan and Jill (Brian) Madurski; grandchildren Alex Madurski, Gracen and Kinsley Sullivan. 


Preceding Richard are his parents Alexander and Caroline (Mondo) Sullivan and his siblings John, Alexander and Carol.


Funeral services will be held in private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 E. Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY.
