John “Jack” P. McNally passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at his home in Durham NC, he was 83 years old. Jack was born in South Buffalo, NY, on August 31, 1941, the son of John and Ruth (Gilmore) McNally.
Jack attended Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo NY, graduating in 1959. After high School, Jack enrolled in the Army and spent three years serving his country in Augsburg, Germany. Upon completion of his military service in October 1964, Jack returned to the US and met his wife of 58 years, Gail Marie (Guenther) McNally. During his career, Jack was employed in several sales related roles, retiring from the Red Wing Industrial Shoe Company in 2012.
Jack was an avid sports fan, enjoying competitive 10 pin bowling well into his 70’s. To those who knew him well, Jack was a moral compass and was active in the Catholic Church, both as a lector and as a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he participated in many social and charitable activities including the annual children's Christmas “Santa” breakfast.
Jack is survived by his wife, Gail of Durham, NC, his sons; Kevin McNally of Lynn, MA, and Mike McNally/Daughter in-law Rebecca McNally of Chapel Hill, NC, along with four grandchildren; Grace, Liam, Violet and Logan.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5-7:30 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church; 328 Washington Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in private.
