Joel P. Cybart

Joel Cybart “JoJo,” 58, of Fredonia, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021.

Joel was born in Dunkirk and was a lifelong Dunkirk/Fredonia resident.Joel graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1981 .He apprenticed as a machinist with his father for several years before joining Renold Inc. in Westfield.

One of his passions was tracking wounded deer with his dogs: Spike and Bruno as a member of Deer Search of WNY. He loved everything outdoors. His greatest passion was following his daughters’ sports careers at Northern Chautauqua Catholic, Fredonia High School and Houghton College.

As a young man he coached Dunkirk Midget League Football. He went on to coach his daughter’s teams at NCCS.Joel was a member of many social clubs in the area. He was a diehard Raiders fan. To those who knew him, they will remember his robust sense of humor, his knack for shenanigans, and his generous spirit.

Beloved husband of Traci (Kubiak), devoted father of Hannah and Caitlyn, and son of Florence and the late Richard Cybart. Joel is survived by his wife, Traci, of 29 years; and his daughters: Hannah and Caitlyn.Also survived by his mother, Florence; brothers: Paul (Marylyn) and Mark (Cindy), sisters: Deborah (Paul) Amidon and Judy (Rick) Westling; and sister-in-law, Jennifer (James) Blair; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.Preceded in death by his father, Richard Cybart and his in-laws: Raymond and Patricia (Murray) Kubiak.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Monday, Dec. 27, at the R. Mackowiak, Funeral Home Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. in Dunkirk from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 1032 Central Ave. in Dunkirk.
