Harry Joseph “Moose” Winkler, 94, of Sheridan passed away on August 20, 2025 with his loving wife, Nancy, by his side. Moose was born in Buffalo on March 10, 1931 to William and Stephanie (Stolowski) Winkler, moving to Sheridan when he was young.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After completing his time in the Army, he returned to Sheridan and met his wife, Nancy (Majka) Winkler. Moose and Nancy married on July 16, 1966 and shared 59 years together.

Moose was a professional union carpenter, training many apprentices during his career. At one point, he worked with his brother Ron for Winkler Construction. If anyone had a carpentry need, he took pride in sharing his expertise and help, especially with family and friends.

In his spare time, Moose spent many hours tinkering in his garage. He took joy in restoring Model A Fords. He was a member of many local organizations, including Murray Hose Company #4 and the Sheridan VFW Post 6390, where he was intimately involved in the construction of the current Post building. He was also a parishioner of Blessed Mary Angela Parish at St. Hedwigs Church.

Moose is survived by his wife Nancy; sisters Jean (Florian) Banach, Dolores (Raymond) Jagoda; sister-in-law Joan (Ronald) Winkler: several nieces and nephews as well as his extended Majka family. He also leaves behind, Tino Vecchio, who he fondly considered a very close friend.

Moose is pre-deceased by his parents; his brothers Bernard, Ronald and James Winkler; his sisters Angeline Madurski and Patricia Sikora; and his infant son Joseph Winkler.
