Dunkirk

Frank J. Levandoski Jr., 82, of Dunkirk, passed away Saturday evening,
March 2, 2024 at Buffalo General Hospital with his loving family at his 
side.
He was born December 18, 1941, in Dunkirk, son of the late Frank J. and 
Victoria M. (Balzer) Levandoski Sr.
Frank started his career working at Westfield Police Department  in 1963 
and transferred to Dunkirk Police Department in 1967, he was appointed 
Lieutenant in 1975, he furthered his education and career by attending 
the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA from 1978 to his graduation in 1980 
from the FBI National Academy. Frank was acting Chief of Police during
1993 and attained the rank of Captain in 1997 until his retirement in 2001.
During his career he earned many certificates  and citations  to include 
Award for Valor from Chief John Yannie in 1997 and Fireman of the year 
by Hose Company No 1 in 1979.
He was a history buff with the American Civil War as well as all other 
eras and subjects associated, also enjoyed traveling to and exploring 
historical sites and museums.
Franks memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. 
Hyacinth and was always there to lend a helping hand as an usher, and the
many functions and fund raisers for the parish, life member of Hose Co.
#1, life member of the Dunkirk Exempt Fireman's Club, Charter member 
of the Dunkirk Historical Society, and past member of the Flying 
Dutchman Drum and Bugle Corps.
Surviving is his wife of over 59 years Patricia A. (Krystofiak) Levandoski,
whom he married September 12, 1964, daughters Mary (John) Atzrott of
Fredonia, Catherine (Edward) Jourdanais of PA, grandchildren Daniel
Levandoski of Fredonia, Sara and Noah Jourdanais of PA.
Preceded in addition to his parents is his son in law David Manzella.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the McGraw Kowal Funeral 
Home 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk on Friday from 4-7 PM. A Mass of 
Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church 
of St. Hyacinth on Saturday morning at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. 
Hyacinth's Cemetery.
