Dunkirk

Florence Eleanor (Jasinski) Kaus, 95 years of age passed away with family by her side on
Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief
illness. Florence was born in Dunkirk on November 9th, 1928, the daughter of the late John and
Stella (Wojnarowska) Jasinski.

She graduated from St. Hyacinth School in Dunkirk and later from Villa Maria Academy in
Buffalo. After her schooling she returned to Dunkirk and was employed at the former Van Ralte
factory, the M. Wile plant and taught elementary grades at St. Hyacinth School in the early
1970's. On October 10th, 1959, she married Aloisius Kaus at St. Hyacinth Church. They
celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death on April 11th, 2010.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Edward Jasinski.
Florence is survived by her son, Kenneth (Phyllis) Kaus of Dunkirk, and daughter Judith
(Lawrence) Jaggie of Dade City, Florida, her four grandchildren Jessica (Michael) Testa of South
Stocton, Corey (Laura) Kaus of Dunkirk, Renee (Nathan) Hudson of Clermont, Florida, and
Kaylee (Craig) Howell, of Memphis, Tennessee. She was affectionately known as Grandma
Dearie to her grandchildren as well as her seven great grandchildren, Aiden Testa, Ethan Testa,
Lilly Hudson, Riley Hudson, Cecelia Kaus, Gianna Kendall and Haileigh Echevarria. Many
nieces and nephews also survive.

She recently returned from a Florida vacation to visit family. Living at home until just prior to
her vacation, she was still making Sunday dinners for family, and always celebrated family
birthdays by cooking up the persons choice of favorite dinner with her fabulous scratch made
sheet cake and homemade frosting.

She enjoyed traveling to visit distant family and made special trips to Orlando and Jamaica
to attend the weddings of her granddaughters. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s and
great grandchildren’s school and sports activities, liked playing Bingo and scratch off lottery
tickets, a game of cards, or scrabble. Most of all, she was devoted to our Lord. She would
always be found at Saturday Mass and Thursday's Eucharistic Adoration at Church.
