Edward J. Rak II

Edward J. Rak II, 69, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 28, 2018 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Dunkirk June 24, 1948, son of the late Edward and Ethel (Timmerman) Rak Sr.

A veteran of the U.S. Army during Vietnam, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharp Shooter M-14, Sharp Shooter M-16 Medal, two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from Lakeview Shock. He loved to work outdoors and spend time with his dogs, Bella Marie and Scrappy Doo. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Indians fan.

Among his past memberships include First Ward Falcons Club and Sheridan VFW.

Surviving is his wife, Denise R. Gage of Dunkirk; children, Edward (Kimber- ly) Rak III of SC, Kevin Rak of Fredonia, Melissa Rak of Texas, Andrew Studley of Forestville, and Emily K. Rak of Dunkirk; brothers, George (Jane) Rak of Depew, Patricia (Gary) Damico and Dennis (Susan) Rak, both of Fredonia; sisiter, Barbara (Doug) Fenton of Tonawanda; grandchildren, Lynsy, Clayton, Dominick, Landon, Boston, Avalynn, Maci, Kendall; and one great-grandson, Grayson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, 56 E. Doughty St. in Dunkirk, where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
