Deanne Lee (Damon) Tyszko, age 85, of Dunkirk, New York, went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2025 after a short illness. Deanne was born on May 26, 1940 in Jamestown, New York, to the late Lee Damon and Elsie (Harper) Damon, and lived in Chautauqua County all of her life.
Deanne was married to the late John Tyszko, and was a mother and homemaker first and foremost all of her life. She raised her children with a playful, relaxed attitude, which drew them closer to her and created a strong bond of love among them throughout her life.
Deanne worked at Dunkirk Ice Cream / Fieldbrook Farms for over twenty years, where she was considered the life of the lunchroom with her jokes, limmericks and humorous songs, she endearingly made up about her co-workers. Deanne will not only be remembered for her fun and flirty attitude, but also for her excellent work ethic and attention to details, which was instrumental in her reaching the positions of line-coordinator and supervisor.
In addition to these jobs, she assisted her husband with his shop, Jack’s Guns, and took care of the business aspect of the sales at gun shows. She spent many years hunting deer and turkey on their property in Arkwright and Villenova, and then processed the meat, alongside her husband, to store in the freezer for later.
After her husband passed in 2009, Deanne returned to work five years after retiring and became a “Jill-of-all-Trades” at her favorite place, Fieldbrook Farms, where she cleaned offices, filed papers, and worked at the guard shack for five more years.
She loved seeing former co-workers and listening to country music and danced to the songs in her living room while in her 80s.
Deanne grew up amid many hardships, but she never let them get her down. She had an indomitable spirit and labeled herself as “resilient.” Always up for a challenge, Deanne went back to school to get her high school diploma, to keep her mind sharp and to see if she could do it. She passed the exams and officially graduated in June of 2025.
Deanne was also predeceased by her step-mother Elsie (O’Conner) Damon, and her siblings, Steven Damon, Leigh Ellen Thrasher, and Donald Tanner, and her son-in-law, John McCormick.
Deanne is survived by her children, Carol McCormick and Donna (Gregory) Berg of Dunkirk, Peter (Alexandra) Tyszko of Silver Creek, and Debra (Daniel) Davis of Scales Mound, Illinois.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren Amy Estep, Tracy Einhart, Christina Ferry- Mullen, Daniel Berg, Joseph Tyszko, Kyle Zicari-Grant, and Abagail, Benjamin, Nicholas and Sophia Davis, six great grandchildren Gavin, Nash, Madison, Emily, Alyce, and Adelaide and three great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Oliver, and Harley.
She is also survived by her sister Barbara (Jerry) Newman and her brother, Thomas (Mary Beth) Damon.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 10659 Roberts Road, Fredonia, NY. Arrangements are by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY.
