Casimir Kuziora, 97, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on June 27, 2020.
He was born in Garfield, N.J., on Jan. 13, 1923, to immigrant parents Martin and Aniela Kuziora and moved to Dunkirk, N.Y., in April of that year where he became a life-long resident.
Cas proudly served his country in World War II in the US Navy and received a Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Asiatic/Pacific Medal.
Following the war, he owned and operated Cas’ Barber Shop in Dunkirk for over 60 years.Cas was also active as an adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 8 for many years. He enjoyed wood working, long walks by the lake, watching softball games with his many friends at the stadium on summer nights, and was a dedicated fan of the Bills and Sabers. He was a great handyman and could repair almost anything and was especially adept at fixing clocks.Cas was a kind and generous soul who never met a stranger that he was not willing to help.
Cas is survived by his brother, Anthony Kuziora; son, Michael (Mary) Kuziora; daughter, Kristine (Paul) Vanek; his grandchildren: Christian Lamoreaux, Michael and Sarah Kuziora, Megan, Erin, and Elizabeth Vanek; along with great-grandchildren: Anthony, Christian Jr., Elizabeth Lamoreaux; and his beloved canine companion, Toby.In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Irene; a daughter, Karen (Lee) Lamoreaux; and siblings: Stanley “Curly”, Edward, Sophie Gregoreski, and Henry.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. (Please follow guidelines for protection against COVID-19.)A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. (Social distancing and proper precautions will be observed).
