Dunkirk

Carmen I. Vazquez, 81, of Dunkirk passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 10 2024 at home with her loving family by her side.  Born on March 3, 1942, in Guayama, Puerto Rico. Daughter of the late Carmelo Figueroa Sr. and Angela (Espada) Figueroa.

Carmen's warm and loving personality was a blessing to many. She had a heart that overflowed with love and treated everyone she met like family. Her open arms embraced people from all walks of life, showing them acceptance and kindness. Carmen's generosity knew no bounds, and she shared her love with those who needed it most. Her sense of humor brought laughter wherever she went - her contagious laughter and radiant smile was enough to brighten any room.

Outside of her role as a beloved homemaker, Carmen had a few passions in life that brought her immense joy. She was an avid bingo player. Cooking was another way she expressed her love, delighting her family and friends with delicious meals and she always enjoyed her daily scratch off tickets.

Carmen cherished spending time with her loved ones above all else. Family and friends held a special place in her heart, and she valued every moment spent with them.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Jose Vazquez Sr., children: Aida Rivera, Miriam Rivera, Angelo Rivera, Jose Vazquez Jr., Lydia (Victor) Velez; sisters Alba Ramos, Miriam Wilson, Mary Adorno; brothers Carmelo Figueroa Jr. and Oscar Figueroa; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, adoring each one of them with all of her heart.

Predeceased include her parents Carmelo and Angela (Espada) Figueroa, sons Michael Anthony Rivera and Jose Antonio Rivera, sister Aida Bauza and brother Pablo Figueroa.
