Barbara E. Sommer

Barbara E. Sommer of Sheridan, died, Thursday evening, July 23, 2020. She was born March 5, 1932, daughter of the late Clarence and Barbara (Ludes) Braun.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, the parish Ladies Guild, and past member of the former St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, where she had volunteered and was a recipient of the St. Joseph Lay Award.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Carol) Sommer; daughter, Laura Sommer; grandchildren: John and Heather Gronkowski and Steven Kneussel; her sister, Dorothy Topliffe; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by is her beloved husband of over 59 years, Jack B. Sommer, whom she married Sept. 28, 1957; and her sisters: Jane Bremer and Mary Ann Roach.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty St., in Dunkirk.Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 a.m., in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, and interment in Sheridan Cemetery.
