Adolph E. Herdzik, Jr.

Adolph Edward Herdzik Jr. 77 of Dunkirk, NY passed away unexpectedly on January 20,2026.

Born on August 21, 1948, in Dunkirk, NY. He was the eldest son of Adolf and Eva (Tofil) Herdzik.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Lynn (Uszacki) Herdzik, sons Robert and Jonathan both of Dunkirk. He was Predeceased by an infant daughter Nicole, Siblings Frances Gens and Thomas Herdzik and father in law Alexander Uszacki.

Adolph is also survived by Sister Nancy (Ralph Letersky), brother Roger (Melissa Corsi). Mother-in-law Jackleen Uszacki, and Brother-in-Law Harry Gens.

He will be loved and missed by; Brother and Sister in laws: Dennis and Susan ( Uszacki) Rak, Daniel and Kathy (Katta) Uszacki, Allen Uszacki. Nieces and nephews: Mark and Jeff Gens, Jason and Jacob Letersky and Jenna (Letersky) Thayer, Scott Herdzik, Adam and Abram Rak and their families.

Several years ago, Adolph and Lynn were blessed with unexpected 'chosen" family members who brightened their lives moving to the neighborhood; they are forever grateful for the Grann Family, Jay, Gracie, Gabriella and Giuliana, who kept Adolph smiling!

Adolph served our country proudly as a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Trinity Church. You could depend on Ada to help sell tickets for any fundraiser or cause, As well as purchase them! Adolph enjoyed “Signing in” and was a member of many social clubs including First and Fourth Ward Falcon clubs, Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, Dom Polski Club, Beaver club, Fireman's Exempts and Moniuszko Club.

Adolph held Several jobs after his service to the country. He was employed at Roblin Steel, Alumax, Kraft Foods, Altech , and Great Lakes Printing before retiring from Ralston Purina. He was a great employee known for his hard work, dependability, and never had a problem finding a job.

The unofficial mayor of Serval Street you could always count on Adolph to help with anything you need. He was a great friend to many and would go out of his way to help you.

Adolph, Freddie or Eddie as he was referred to lovingly by his friends was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees. He is the reigning Jackie Uszacki Pinochle Tournament Champ! Polkas were his passion, he could be heard listening to them in and out of his home. He was proud of his relationship with Lenny Golmuka of the Chicago Push and attended any Polka Party he could. Adolph had a joyous laugh, and a perfect day would include Polkas, Pierogies, Pinochle, and time with family and friends.

No prior visitation will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church; 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY. Military Honors will be held by the Dunkirk Joint Veteran Council immediately following the Mass. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; R.
