Thomas J. Dascenzo

Thomas J. Dascenzo Sr., of Dunkirk, N.Y., reached the end of his wonderful life on Aug. 5, 2021, at the age of 85.

Thomas was born on February 18, 1936, to Lynn and Josephine Dascenzo in Sheridan, N.Y.

Thomas joined the U.s Marine Corps in 1954-57, serving in the Korean War. Once his service was completed, he married his wife, Mary Ann (Dubiel) Dascenzo on Aug. 31, 1957. Thomas and Mary Ann went on to have two children: Thomas J Dascenzo Jr, and Richard Dascenzo.

Returning to Dunkirk, N.Y., after his years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Thomas worked for Kraft Food and later Dunkirk Ice Cream.

More so, Thomas was a familiar face at Van Buren Point, taking care of the facilities and managing the grounds to be enjoyed by all.

Thomas kept a strong relationship with the U.S. Marine Corps, years after service.

Thomas and MaryAnn enjoyed camping with their family in their RV at local campgrounds. MaryAnn and him also traveled throughout the United States making many friends along the way.

Thomas was a member of Blessed Mary Angela Parish in Dunkirk, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; sister, Louise (David) Dow; two sons: Thomas Dascenzo Jr. and Richard (Kim Smith) Dascenzo; granddaughters: Jessica (Greg) Haight, Brandi (Brandon) Meacham; grandson, Thomas J. Dascenzo III; and greatgrandchildren: Zoey and Grant Haight and Lillee and Isaac Meacham.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Lynn and Josephine Dascenzo; sister, Delanore Westing; and daughter-in-law, Molly Dascenzo.

Private services will be held at the R.Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., with burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
