Paul B. "Jake" Jakiela

Paul B. "Jake" Jakiela, 65, of Fredonia, NY, entered into spirit June 24, 2014, in his home surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born Oct. 24, 1948, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard Jakiela and Ida (Tolkacz) Jakiela. A member of the Moniuszko Social Club, Inc., First Ward Falcon Club, Dunkirk Falcon Club, Dom Polski Club, Lakeside Club, and the Dunkirk Exempt Firemen's Association, Jake is also survived by five daughters and one son: Nancy Morgan, Sue (Gary) Victor, Patricia Jakiela (Isidro Camacho), Lenore Jakiela (Gib Snyder III), Jeanette (Dan) Adamczak and Bernard Jakiela. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Devon Washington, Courtney Morgan, Alyssa Tanyi, Christopher Tanyi, Lewis Victor, Kaylee Adamczak and Grayson Adamczak. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Dominic Paul Washington and Alex Carroll Jr. Jake is also survived by his brother, Richard Hyde and his sister Brenda (Jeff) Jakiela-Wilcox, as well as sisters-in-law Diane (Bill) Cox, Yolanda (Ethan) Pres-ton, Amy (Mike) Roth and Jill (Howard) Rager, and brothers-in-law Mark Serafin, John (Barbara) Serafin and Timothy (Tammy) Serafin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, Jake was predeceased by his brother Dennis, mother-in-law Joan Serafin and father-in-law John Serafin. Besides being a devoted husband, father, uncle and friend, Jake was also a jack-of-all trades, an avid bowler, golfer, two-hand touch football player, musician and, above all else, an excellent cook, who loved to prepare meals for his countless friends and loving family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated this morning at 11 o'clock at Trinity Episcopal Church on Day Street in Fredonia. Arrangements are by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., in Dunkirk. Survived by his wife Victoria (Serafin) Jakiela, whom he married on Feb. 16, 1980, Jake was a former employee of the Tonawanda Coke Plant and Duriron, in Angola, NY.
