Michael R. Mawhir, 76, passed away Friday (Feb.11) peacefully at home with his daughter by his side.
Michael a lifelong resident of Dunkirk, was born December 4, 1945, to the late Richard R. and Helen G. (Mullaney) Mawhir.
He was a graduate of Dunkirk High School.
He entered the U.S. Navy right out of high school and served in the Vietnam War.
After leaving the Navy he became an over the road truck driver. In his retirement he enjoyed going to get coffee with his friends and delivering coffee to his daughter and her coworkers. He especially enjoyed dog sitting his grandpup Aurora and spoiling her with treats.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Elmer) Vaughn; and a brother-in- law Joseph Seminatore.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 49 years Barbara Ann (Seminatore) Mawhir; and a brother, Richard P. Mawhir.
There will be a Memorial Mass for Michael and Barbara Ann at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church on April 10, at 830 a.m.
