Mathew W. Stempien

Mathew W. Stempien, 86, of Dunkirk, died on his mothers birthday, Saturday, June 13, 2015. He was born October 18, 1928, in Dunkirk, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Garbacz) Stempien. A retired employee of True Temper Shovel Plant in Dunkirk. Mathew's memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R. C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig, Murray Hose Company #4, Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club, Southern Tier Rod and Gun Club, and First Ward Falcons Club. An avid sportsman, Mathew enjoyed to fish and hunt, along with help people in need. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Donna L. (Brevoort) Stempien of Dunkirk, along with many family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Mathew is preced-ed in death by his daughter, Lou Ann Stempien, who died February 21, 1968. There will be no prior Visitation and Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian burial to be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Blessed Mary Angela R. C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery. Memorials are to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the VNA (Visiting Nurses Association) 560 W. 3rd Street, Jamestown, New York 14701 .
