Martha A. Bialaszewski

Martha A. Bialaszewski, 90, formerly of Dunkirk, and now Terre Haute, IN, died Friday afternoon, May 6, 2016 at the home of her son where she had been living for the past several months.


Born August 11, 1925 in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Majka) Pawelczak.

A graduate of Dunkirk Business Institute and a re-tired employee of Cease's Commissary/Interstate United.

Martha had been a volunteer for many years at Buffalo Veterans Hospital on Bailey Avenue, and received a Volunteer Service Award from the city of Buffalo.

Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig, the parish Rosary Society and was also past president, Sacred Heart Society, Ladies Society - also past president, Mothers Club - also past president, a lector, Eucharistic Minister, called Bingo for many years, past president of the Dunkirk are Fredonia Professional Business Woman's Club, served as Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1960, Catholic Daughters Court #250, officer at the Dunkirk Falcons Club Auxiliary, Ladies Society of the WWII Vets Club, and St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church in Terre Haute Ind.

Surviving is her son Dr. Dennis and his wife Dr. Marsha Bialaszewski of Terre Haute Ind, who Martha said was the best daughter-in-law anyone could hope for, granddaughter Jessica Marie Bialaszewski Rose of Kansas City, Kansas, godchild and nephew Kenneth (Deneen) Zebracki of Youngstown, Ohio, godchildren Debbie (Roger) Levandoski of Dunkirk and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Guenther of PA.

Preceded in death in addition to her parents is her husband, Walter Bialaszewski, who died Jan. 18, 2007 and sister Bernice Zebracki, who died May 23, 2011.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Tues-day from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwigs Cemetery.

The Parish Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Tuesday evening at 630.
